~ In-game description

Triple Shot is the third upgrade of Path 2 for the Dart Monkey. With this upgrade, Dart Monkeys will shoot three darts at a time instead of one. Each dart has a base value of 2 pierce, and the lateral darts are shot at an angle of 30°. It attacks every 0.633s. If given 4And4Icon 4 And 4, the Dart Monkey throws four darts every fourth shot.

This upgrade costs $340 on Easy, $400 on Medium, $430 on Hard, and $480 on Impoppable.

Description[]

Overview[]

Placeholder other

Triple Shot throwing triple darts

Triple Shot gains a patterned black headband, and a red cover patterned with white three vertical white bars at the front. Darts thrown by the monkey receive red dart flights (i.e. "wings") instead of light-orange.

Crosspathing with Path 1 grants a colored tailband on the monkey's tail, the color depending on crosspathing (green with 1-3-0, red with 2-3-0). Crosspathing with path 2 grants colored wristbands for the monkey's wrists, colored also depending on crosspathing (green with 0-3-1, red with 0-3-2).

Triple Shot retains the improved attack speed of Very Quick Shots, while now throwing three darts per shot, all identical to the regular dart. The darts have a 60° spread (30° in either direction).

Targeting Priorities[]

Triple Shot targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. It shoots straight movement projectiles.

  • First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
  • Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
  • Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
  • Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.

Adding Enhanced Eyesight adds Camo Prioritization, allowing all its attacks to prioritize Camo Bloons over other types when this secondary targeting option is active.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Triple Shot is a decent early-game option for general damage to standard bloons, specifically against spaced Yellows and Pinks, as well as groups of weaker bloons. Triple Shot is superior than its sisterly upgrade Crossbow in its specialty, and has more general value but less specialized attacking styles. While the Triple Shot is more versatile in usage and positioning, in addition to transitioning decently to Super Monkey Fan Club for the mid-to-late stages of the game, Crossbow still has the edge versus stronger early-game bloons later on in the game and has a lower cost gap between upgrades.

Tips[]

  • Triple Shot is still extremely usable if an optimized strategy is not paramount, or playing on an easier map/difficulty.
  • If the "Bonus Monkey!" and "More Cash" Monkey Knowledge are unlocked, then one 0-3-0 Dart Monkey can be afforded at the start of the game even on Impoppable.
  • Triple Shot synergizes better with Benjamin compared to Crossbow when it comes to penny-pinching early-game income. This is because the Biohack ability's damage buff is more significant on the Triple Shot's multiple darts than the Crossbow's single arrows.
  • In Ravine, Triple Shot is well-used for CHIMPS to excel the early-game, particularly with the necessity for a Dart start to begin CHIMPS.

Trivia[]

  • Like its BTD5 counterpart, the Triple Shot upgrade is inspired by the Triple Dart Bloon in the Bloons series.
  • Triple Shot is the second-cheapest Tier 3 upgrade in BTD6 by the price of the upgrade alone, at $400 on Medium, second to Spike-o-pult, at $300 on Medium.
  • While no longer having (Razor) Sharp Shots in same path, it's not as powerful as it was in BTD5; however, it is easily made up by the (Very) Quick Shots upgrades instead.
  • Triple Shot has the highest price gap between the Tier 3 and Tier 4 upgrades, costing $400 on Medium compared to $8000 on Medium to get Super Monkey Fan Club, a 20x cost difference. The only other upgrade to do so is Bomber Ace ($900 on Medium) compared to Ground Zero ($18,000 on Medium).
